With the Scout model Swedish FireSteel, you’ve got about 2,997 strikes to go before you’re out.
Light My Fire is a Swedish FireSteel, which is a must for your backpack whether you’re hunting, hiking, camping or any other outdoor venue where you would need to start a fire. It was originally developed by the Swedish Defense Department and is approved by the International Survival Instructors Association.
The FireSteel fire starter is water-resistant, so it works even when it’s wet and cold and it works at any altitude. It’s very reliable and easy to use. It comes with a striker, or a knife can be used. Simply pull the striker or knife blade up slowly and firmly down the length of the fire-starter. The sparks will easily ignite dry grass, bark, paper, or a stove or barbeque grill.
The FireSteel Scout model is designed to last about 3,000 strikes. It also comes in an Army model with 12,000 strikes. The Scout is also available in four colors and even an oak model. This would be an excellent stocking stuffer idea for any outdoors person on your list.~Tammy Ballew
