August is known for the lazy (who, what, when, where? Are you kidding me?), hazy (absolutely, because the days fly by and are a blur) days of summer. We all get caught up in the fast-paced, busy times we’re living in, but we really need to slow down and take a look at what’s going on around us. Take some time to do some of the little things you enjoy doing.
I took the opportunity to do that a few weeks ago when I went fishing for catfish with a friend of mine, Cindy Waters, in their farm pond. The catfish weren’t too active that day, but it was a great day of relaxation, reflecting, visiting with Cindy; discussing family, world problems, the good things going on in the world, and the beauty surrounding us.
Speaking of reflecting, this photo was snapped from the bank of the pond as I was reveling in that beauty.
We headed to the pond with hunting stools to sit on, plenty of fishing poles, and quite a buffet assortment of catfish baits. Lucky Seven, Bee-Jay’s, Hog Wild were among the array of delectable, smelly baits we tantalized them with. We caught a few catfish that day, but for me, what I caught was my breath. It was the first time I had actually sat still in quite some time.
I captured this iPhone photo of a dragon fly which lit on the end of my fishing rod, while I was in this dormant state. I hope you too can take some time for the simple things in life and have at least one lazy, hazy day of summer. It’s very refreshing!

Nice article and great pics! I’m impressed that a phone did such a good job…
Yeah, it’s amazing what you can get out of iPhone, ain’t it?
Nice job of capturing the moment, Tammy.
Awesome! So you know exactly what I was feeling!
I think that’s part of why I love catfishing so much – it gives me a chance to just sit.. to just be.. to watch everything that’s going on around the lake, pond or creek. I especially like catfishing at dusk – that special time when it segues into darkness, the night birds start to call, and the campfire and friendships both crackle and leap
