Never point your gun at anything you don’t intended to shoot or kill.
A handgun is for fighting your way to your rifle which you shouldn’t have put down in the first place!
I just found this quote and I love it:
“Your heaviest artillery will be your will to live. Keep that big gun going.”
Norman Cousins
And I’d like to add that not only is it your will to live, but I believe it’s your will to live the best and most fulfilled and sparked life possible that is our best weapon. It’s what keeps us going when we’re scared. It’s what helps us get up when we’ve fallen down. It’s what pushes us forward no matter how dark the path may seem. It’s the light.
I LOVE this website and all the discussion here. ROCK ON MY LADY FRIENDS!!

A lawyer with his briefcase can steal more than a hundred men with guns.
“I would like to see every woman know how to handle firearms as naturally as they know how to handle babies.” -Annie Oakley
Due to the increasing price of ammo….you will not get a warning shot!
If someone sees that I carry a gun and asks “What are you afraid of?” My response is “Not a damn thing!”
Who needs a man when you have a gun, a truck, and batteries?
Don’t you wish your girlfriend could shoot like me.
My dad always told me “No daughter of mine will be a victim” he taught me to protect myself and my values! Those were the best life lessons I learned and continue to learn and share with other women.
I can’t pick just one favorite!
Butt, belly, beak, BLAST – Not sure who said it first, but I say it to myself at every bird shoot to help me remember to follow through.
“If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things in nature have a message you understand, Rejoice, for your soul is alive.” –Eleanora Duse
‘Though she be but little, she is fierce!’ –William Shakespeare
One of my favorites is the “well-behaved women” quote – got the t-shirt to prove it 🙂 but I’ll give you one I adapted from another: “I shoot. What’s your super power?”
“Courage is being scared to death, but sattling up anyway.” John Wayne
“You can spout all the anti-gun noise you want. You can tell me guns are ‘macho’ and ‘masculine’, accuse me of trying to be like the ‘big boys’ if I carry one. I don’t care. I’ve been raped, and I’ve decided that I would much rather defend myself than sit back quietly and be ‘ladylike’.” Julie Batson
“Girls, Take your guns to town! ” A take on Johnny Cash’s song! I love that as of now in the US (in most states) CCW is still an option. We need to stand up for our rights to carry for protection, hunting, and going to the range.
“Don’t forget your gun!” as said to me by my husband. Now, for many of you, this may not be that unusual. But for a girl who grew up in MA, never owning a gun, or really around guns or hunting…..I just loved hearing this. Since moving to CO, and meeting my husband and becoming more familiear with guns and hunting…this just makes me smile!
“Now then, take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me” -Genesis 27:3
My dad always used these 2 “A gun in your hand is worth more than a cop on the phone” and “No daughter of mine will be a victim.”
Aim for the high mark and you will hit it. No, not the first time, not the second time and maybe not the third. But keep on aiming and keep on shooting for only practice will make you perfect. Finally you’ll hit the bull’s-eye of success.
(Annie Oakley)
Those are words of inspiration and wisdom for everyone.
Two things I have at all times, my wedding ring and my pistol. Never leave the house without them.
I recently read some thoughts from a book titled, “Personal Defense for Women” written by Gila Hayes. She said (with my paraphrasing) , as little girls we are taugh to avoid strangers, keep window shades down, and never go out alone at night. We were taught to behave quietly, dress modestly and pray that you do not attract criminal attention. We were never taught how to defend ourselves if all those things failed.” She basically said, it’s time we take charge of the protection of our own, and our families lives. It makes good sense to me!
My favorite quote would have to be “Camo is just a color its a way of life” and another that my bf always tells me is aim small miss small and it does seem to work. Love this jewerly!
“You are only helpless while your nail polish is still wet. Even then, you could pull the trigger if you had too.”
It takes 43 muscles to frown, 17 to smile but only 3 for a proper trigger squeeze 🙂
Ammo’s getting expensive. Don’t expect a warning shot.
It makes me laugh every time I see that somewhere. It’s so true though.
A woman that seeks to be equal to a man lacks ambition, a woman without firearm lacks accessories!!!
“I don’t like living in a man’s world, as long as I can be a woman in it.”
Marilyn Monroe quoted this and I’ve found that it fits multiple facets of my life, especially when it comes to my love of guns and bows. My dad taught me to shoot around age 3 and I’ve been hooked every since.
“I’ve got a .45 and a shovel”..greetings to my daughters future boyfriends..=)
Be sure of your target because once you let a bullet go it can’t be recalled.
This above all, to refuse to be a victim.
— Margaret Atwood
Childbirth is more admirable than conquest, more amazing than self-defense, and as courageous as either one.

“A woman is like a tea bag; you never know how strong it is until it’s in hot water.”
One of my favorite quotes: “A woman who demands further gun control legislation is like a chicken who roots for Colonel Sanders.” LARRY ELDER
“Action beats reaction”. That was pounded into our brains at the law enforcement academy.

One of my favorite quotes that I try to live by every day is “Sometimes the greatest risk of all is never taking one at all.”

No man who refuses to bear arms can give sound reason why he should be allowed to live in a free country – Teddy Roosevelt
A fanatic is one who sticks to his guns whether they’re loaded or not.

An armed society is a poliet society. My mother taught me to always be poliet.
Shoot For the Stars. 🙂 Not only can this quote apply for a good clay pigeon shot, it holds true for many goals you CAN set and CAN achieve!
My great grandmother was the first person who taught me what it was like to be really strong. To stand up when others put you down and to never let them decide who you are. Even if I didn’t know she was doing it at the time. This strength is a legacy that she passed onto my grandmother, my mother and now me. I’m proud to say I was the first woman in my family to own a gun, and though many of the other women don’t understand how I can ‘have those things’ in the house. All I can do is think of my mom, and Greatgrandma, both the strongest women I know, and smile and tell them ‘if someone tries breaking into my house, they may THINK they’re going to scare me and my mom and sister. But the sound of me cocking the shock gun will surely put the fear of god in them.”
Yes, I am a woman,
Yes, I own a home,
Yes, I am a mother
Yes, I will defend all three
“It’s time to get a gun. That’s what I’ve been thinking. I could afford one, if I did just a little less drinking.” Miranda Lambert
Never point a weapon at anything unless you intend to use it the way it was meant to be used.
My daddy taught me that and I live my life by that… I have had had to make that decision before and i am glad that I had my weapon as a choice to use, but didn’t have to. People find out very quickly that an armed woman is a scary thing to have to face, especially if they know how to use the weapon in their hand.
I’m proud to be a woman and a gun lover. Thanks DADDY for all that you taught me about it and for giving me the strength to use them the way there are supposed to be used…I LOVE YOU!
just be funny and sneak up on a girl just remember she may have a desert eagle in her purse
My second husband and I had a friend who was a doubting Thomas about my shooting skills. He wouldn’t take my husbands word that I could shoot, and there really had never been a reason to show him. Finally one day he got on my husbands nerves, as we were out on the farm we both were wearing our sidearms. Suddenly my husband said, “Show him.” And threw a pop can up and off the porch, I pulled my 9mm out, kicked the slide back and began shooting. All six shots hit true and I had that can dancing all over the place. The doubting Thomas was standing with his chin down about his knees somewhere. Everywhere we all went after that his words were always, “Don’t mess with her, she’ll have you full of holes before you know she even drew on you.” We thought it was funny.
girls are made to shoot better because their center of gravity enables us to do so..as shakira put it, “these hips don’t lie”. thank God for my hips and curves cuz I was born to shoot!
also, don’t put your finger on the trigger until your ready to pull it.

my thoughts on women and guns
“It’s so adorable when people who wouldn’t know a high-capacity magazine from Vanity Fair start telling gun owners what they should want and need.”
– Ann Coulter, Author

A woman who demands further gun control legislation is like a chicken who roots for Colonel Sanders.
Larry Elder
On a side note: I finally ordered from the GunGoddess and can’t wait to get my stuff. I ordered a pair of earrings with my birthstone in them AND ordered my new Flash Bang holster. I’m on pins and needles waiting for my goodies.
Thanks for teaming up with GunGoddess. She rocks!

I’m sugar and spice, until you’re not nice.
I’m rough like Brasso if you’re an Asshole.

As a matter of fact….I DO shoot like A GIRL!
Plus, I really like “I’ll keep my guns, my freedom, and my money – you keep the change”
“Aim at a high mark and you will hit it. No, not the first time, not the second time and maybe not the third. But keep on aiming and keep on shooting for only practice will make you perfect. Finally you’ll hit the bull’s-eye of success.” -Annie Oakly
I used to watch Annie Get Your Gun when I was little and dream of one day shooting a gun as well as she could <3
Until you’re ready to shoot, keep your booger picker off the bang switch.
“I would like to see every woman know how to handle [firearms] as naturally as they know how to handle babies.” Annie Oakley
This is my favorite quote about shooting!
I had posted on a forum about my obsession with shooting. Someone responded with this:
“It’s ok Dawn, you are simply in the early stages of addiction.
There is no 12 step program for this however.
We have a 3 step program available: Tap, Rack and Bang.
You can minimize any adverse reactions by repeating the phrase:”Front sight and press”.
That gave me a good laugh. Another quote that I like is, “Annoy the Establishment.”
My best friend pasted away recently & he had a passion for guns like I’ve never seen. Even time I hear this quote I always think of him ” It’s hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember” I plan on getting a tattoo with this quote & and two guns with wings for him 🙂 Winning this would be amazing!
“Nothing puts the dignity in personal dignity (or the freedom in personal freedom) like the self in self-rule.”
– John Longenecker
I now have dignity and confidence!
My favorite quote of all time is “Live the life you love, love the life you live” (Bob Marley). While it is not directly referring to a shooting sport, I apply it to all of my life, and I love to shoot.
If you want to believe in something, believe in God.
If you want to practice something, practice our Seconod Ammendment rights.
If you want to teach something, teach a kid to love the great outdoors.
If you want to follow something, do so quietly and with grace through the woods so that you may enjoy the pursuit of the hunt and reap the rewards on your kitchen table.
If you want to be an inspration to others, strive to be the person you think others should be.
My all time favorite quote by Ruth Graham
“if a husband and wife agree on everything, one of you isnt necessary”
This quote actually changed my life!!
Shoot Straight,

.”The world is filled with violence. Because criminals carry guns, we decent law-abiding citizens should also have guns. Otherwise they will win and the decent people will lose.”
~James Earl Jones
A woman is like a tea bag, you never know how strong she is until you put her in hot water. By Eleanor Roosevelt. Reminds me that women always rise to the occasion no matter how polite and ladylike we may be on the outside.
Look like a girl
Act like a lady
Think like a man
Work like a boss
-Sheamnessy
This is one quote I saw a while back. It definitely reminds me how I feel about shooting. Just talking about shooting and sharing the knowledge I have about it with people puts a big grin on my face. It’s something that has given me so much confidence, during a time when I needed it the most. — “Give 100% on what you are passionate about because life is precious. Do not be afraid to express what you love… it should show through eyes and your smile and there should be proof on the palms of your hands.”
“Gun Control: the theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her own panty hose, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound.” -Unknown
Gotta go with Annie Oakley:
“When the man hits the target they call him an expert marksman. When I make the mark they call it a trick. Never did like that much.”
I shot in a womens shotgun league and we had that quote printed on our shirts…loved it and it just makes me want to be that much better…
My all time favorite quote is…Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worm out and screaming “WooHoo What a ride!”
I love to talk to women who are first time shooters at our local range. They seem so nervous before they go in to try it for the first time. After the normal safety hints, I tell them that the most important thing to remember is BREATHE. Then I tell them not to feel bad when they shoot better than their husband/boyfriend/brother. Best part is after they are done and they come out smiling showing me their targets. And most times they ARE better than the mans!
Breathing — so important, isn’t it? One of the basic fundamentals of shooting and really, so helpful to control throughout many of life’s stressful situations, isn’t it? Good point, Yvonne!
I am forever thankful that my mother taught me those very words at an early age, and taught me to stand tall, misbehave when necessary, march forward, strong and courageous. Defend those who need it, teach those who should learn, kill them with kindness if you have to but in the end ….conquer and make history… I hope someday I will fulfill her legacy 🙂
Guns kill people. Just like spoons make people fat, and pencils misspell words.
