Among the 86,000 attendees at the 2013 NRA Annual Meetings, Team WON spent the past few days burning up the show floor of the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. In between meetings and interviews, I scoped out a few products that would be great gift ideas for Mother’s Day.
Concealed carry options
The Galco Gunleather CarrySafe allows for concealed carry in a host of different uses, including inside purses, messenger bags, briefcases, computer bags and more. You could even clip the SafeCarry on a car’s sun visor — in between the visor and the roof (if the law permits that in your state). An elasticized nylon holster attached to a stiff leather backing plate with an adjustable metal clip makes it easy to arrange the ride height of the holster to accommodate different bags and draw preferences. Simple concept — endless applications.
Retail price: $29.94
Galco also makes fine leather handbags, specifically for concealed carry. We liked all of them, especially the “Del” style. Simple, sophisticated and able to be used for “every day,” Del has a self-contained side-entry holster compartment to accommodate most small and large-frame handguns.

The Ava by Flashbang is a leather and thermoplastic hybrid inside-the-waistband (IWB) holster cut specifically for the female body. The holsters clips are strong — to hold the holster in place with or without a belt and can be raised or lowered to create a total of nine different cant/depth combinations. The back piece is also cut down to be smaller than the traditional (made for men) style, so that it can even be worn in the front as an appendix carry or cross draw.
I personally use the Ava for IWB carry. This product is Britney approved! [Editor's note: It gets five Starrs.]

Colt Mustang XSP .380 Auto
Weight: Under 12 ounces
Magazine capacity: Six rounds
Other: 3/8 inch integrated accessory rail and ambidextrous safeties
The new polymer addition to the Mustang family is under 12 ounces, as compared to the .380 Mustang Pocketlite that weighs in at 12.5 ounces. I had the chance to handle the Mustang XSP and it felt great in my hand as well as being very lightweight.
Retail price: $649
Weight: 1.2 pounds
Magazine Capacity: Eight rounds
Other: Laser accessory available
In usual Walther fashion, the PK380 feels phenomenal in the hand. I was enamored with how easily the slide was able to be racked on this gun, also. It’s so easy that it can be done with two fingers. I’m a huge fan of the PPQ M2, and I can’t wait put some rounds down range with the PK380.
Retail price: $389.99 (without laser)
Size: 18 millimeters wide
Magazine Capacity: Six rounds
Other: Integrated LaserMax laser and light is available, either factory equipped or sold separately as an accessory
If you’re looking for a small gun, this is it. The best part about it is the LaserMax integrated laser or light that will be available for the PICO. The PICO chassis is set up for easy disassembly and the integrated laser or light piece can be added on if purchased separately as an accessory. The laser or light adds no extra bulk to the gun.
Retail price: $399 for the basic model (price has not been set as of now for the optional LaserMax model)

Smith & Wesson pink tactical pen with stylus tip. I received this pen in a swag bag from the NRA Women’s Leadership Luncheon I attended while at the NRA Annual Meetings. I didn’t even realize I needed a tactical pen, until I had one. Now I can’t live without it. I love the stylus tip for use with my iPhone.
Retail price: $39.95 (also comes in silver and black)
