Muley Double Down on Winchester Deadly Passion

MINNETONKA, MN; (July 14, 2016) — What’s more fun than hunting mule deer? Hunting muley with your mom! That’s exactly what Melissa Bachman, host of Winchester Deadly Passion, is doing on this week’s episode with her mom, Karen.  The Bachman duo travel to Deer Meadow Outfitters in the sandhills region of Nebraska with two tags and hopes for some monster muleys. Tune in for all the action – times two – on Winchester Deadly Passion, on Sportsman Channel Sunday, July 17 at 11:30 a.m. ET.

Chasing mule deer has always been a passion of mine and its all the more fun when I can bring my mom out for her first-ever mule deer hunt,” said Bachman. “Most people don’t think of the sandhill region of Nebraska as harboring big muleys, but the desolate region really does grow big bucks, so I’m happy to return to Deer Meadow Outfitters every fall.

Karen Bachman was instrumental in growing Melissa’s love for the outdoors. “I wanted the kids to be a part of the outdoors and not sit inside playing video games; I wanted them to experience growing up like I did,” stated Karen.

The trio of Melissa, Karen and Scott Kuhn, guide for Deer Meadow, begin stalking up and down the valleys of the sandhills glassing and looking for deer. Melissa is looking for a muley with a wide rack she actually missed earlier during the archery season. They find a group of deer down in a ravine, but instead of going after them, Scott convinces the ladies to allow him to call them up. “You don’t hear about people using a call for mule deer,” said Melissa. “But Scott had this specially made for him and he says it grabs their interest with its special sound; so we are going to try it out!”

The Memory Chase segment in this week’s show is 11-year-old Abby Russum from Crumpton, Maryland who is after a nice whitetail buck with her crossbow. Abby received a Mission Vertical bow, Winchester Waterproof Blanket and swag, Hunter Safety System Vest, Ani-Logics Braggin Rights Attractant, Wildlife Research Center Gold Scent Elimination Pack, Easton Youth Bow Case, Boss Buck Feeders swag, Engel Cooler dry box, Rage Broadheads, Realtree EZ Hanger, Field & Stream backpack, Caldwell Hearing Protection and Moose Utility Division swag for being selected.
