isPermaLink="false">http://womensoutdoornews.com/?p=6886</guid> <description><![CDATA[The WON congratulates Kim Rhode on capturing a silver medal at the World Cup Final.]]></description> <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Kim Rhode (El Monte, Calif.) finished out a terrific season with a silver medal at the World Cup Final.  Rhode-the year&#8217;s World Champion-equaled the world record of 74/75 targets in qualification.  Rhode encountered difficulty in the final as she shot 21 targets.  Luckily, with a solid one-target lead headed into the final round, she was able to maintain pace and finish one target above the bronze medalist.</p><div

class="wp-caption-text">Photo courtesy of USA Shooting.</p></div><p>Other American competitors included Amber English (Colorado Springs, Colo.), who shot 67 targets in qualification, which put her in a three way tie for the remaining spot in the Women&#8217;s Skeet final.  English and Xiumin Yu lost to Italy&#8217;s Chinara Cainero.  The third American, Haley Dunn (Eddyville, Iowa), who was invited to the World Cup Final after her gold medal performance in Lonato, finished 9th with 66 targets.</p><p>In Men&#8217;s Skeet, Sean McLelland (Harlingen, Texas) finished in 10th place with 114 targets.  At yesterday&#8217;s Men&#8217;s Double Trap event, Staff Sergeant Josh Richmond (Hillsgrove, Pa.), the reigning World Champion, finished 10th with 138 targets and teammate Corporal Jeffrey Holguin (Yorba Linda, Calif.) also shot for 138 targets and 11th place.</p><p>The competition continues tomorrow and Wednesday with Trap events. In the final, Connor hit 20 out of 25 targets and ended the match tied for third place at 89 targets with Russian shooter Svetlana Demina. In the shoot-off for the bronze, Demina hit her target to secure the bronze, while Connor missed and finished just off the podium in fourth place.</p><p>Christine Wenzel of Germany, the 2008 Olympic bronze medalist and reigning World Champion, won today’s match after a shoot-off with Italy’s Katiuscia Spada. Wenzel finished the match with 90+2 hits after shooting 21 targets in the final, which was the highest final score of the day. Spada placed second winning the silver with 90+0 hits.</p><div

Vincent Hancock (Eatonton, Ga.), the 2008 Olympic gold medalist and 2009 World Champion, is currently holding third place in Men’s Skeet after today’s qualification with 73 out of 75 targets.
