Gear Court: Get your facts straight and recorded in a Doeville Hunting Diary

barb-baird-out-standing-in-field2I knew I should be doing it. I just always got caught up in deadlines and wrote about my hunting experiences for publications and weekly columns and never, really, wrote anything for myself. I changed that this year, thanks to the little push I received from Madame Doeville, Kim Pezzeminti, who gifted all Team Huntress participants last June at our workshop in South Dakota with several items from Doeville, including the hand-crafted, Nubuck leather diary.

diaryThe Doeville Hunting Diary fit into my backpack just fine, and because of its velvety soft cover and super quiet pages (made of recycled cotton clothing and jute rope), I never had to worry about alerting the wildlife that a journalist was in their midst. In fact, I sat quite comfortably 18 feet off the ground in my stand, and wrote several pages about the circumstances surrounding how I came to be there at that time. I also jotted down some tidbits, like these below:

*I like that the wind is in my face when I’m hunting. That’s a good thing – even when I’m up high in a stand.

*I just dropped my “Butt Out” tool, but hey, at least I can see it – as opposed to that cartridge I just dropped earlier. Lost so far: one bullet and two pony tail holders.

*What if someone made a tree stand recliner? If you’re strapped in, what’s the big deal? Wouldn’t it be better to take a quick nap anyway?

*Is it possible that I’m overlooking a sterile meadow?

There’s still time to order one of these diaries, er journals, for your favorite huntress. Kim is offering free shipping and if you know Kim, aka Madam Doeville, you’ll know that she likes to wrap gifts! To order, go to this link.

I love the Doeville journal, so great to be able to bring it to the woods and capture the free flow of thoughts that comes from a zen day on the hunt!
