We know, we know … a lot of you don’t like the word “babe” used in any context except when it applies to that one in the manger or in reference to a certain baseball player’s name, but take a look at this young woman’s approach in her popular blog to fishing and … to life.
We ask you to contribute your recommendations for BlogLight features, and we recently received a request from a reader who calls herself “Crafting Kathy,” to shine the BlogLight on the Fisherbabe’s blog. She wrote,
“I enjoy reading this blog quite a lot because Lizzy, aka The Fisherbabe, is a fun girl who really enjoys the outdoors while also enjoying the girly things that I enjoy!! She makes fishing fun and gives me a lot of tips that I, as a woman, can use in the outdoors on my own fishing trips!! Plus, her writing style is a refreshing change from the norm.”
Crafting Kathy is right. Fisherbabe’s blog is girly girly, but also devoted to her passion of fishing, which she does alongside her “fisherhubby.” She also takes on other topics, like why can’t a woman be attractive and an athlete, too and her fav Valentine’s products.

Thank you so much for this recognition on this fantastic website!!! I am honored that you found my blog worthy of a mention! More than anything, I sincerely thank you so much for acknowledging that, although my name includes the word “babe”, it does not have to have a negative connotation. I get a lot of negativity from women who do not understand my goals or why I play up the fun “sexy” side of fishing, and I appreciate, much more than you know, your recognition and acceptance.
I am just a girl who loves to fish, who loves the outdoors, and who is trying to bring attention to all the amazing ladies, in every sport, because they ARE ALL amazing!! We can be absolutely whatever we want to be in life. Now, more than ever, the possibilities for us are absolutely endless!! I am so proud of my fellow outdoors women for coming so far and for standing so tall and so beautiful, because they are beautiful and FABULOUS…every single one!! Thank you again!

You bet, Lizzy. Our pleasure. It’s time we get over this whole chicks and babe problem, learn to laugh a little more and get more women outdoors. If they think they’re going to be babes if they participate, great! Actually, a lot of newbies are “babes,” such as “babes in the woods,” or hey, “Babbs in the Woods!” So see … I’m right with you.
