Katie McGinty new Media and PR Manager for USA Shooting

USA Shooting is pleased to introduce Katie McGinty as the new Media and Public Relations Manager. McGinty was selected from more than seventy candidates and comes to USA Shooting with a breadth of experience in copy writing, marketing, sports management, and public relations. In her new role, McGinty’s primary responsibilities include serving as editor of USA Shooting news, generating media content, press releases, marketing support, and acting as press officer at various US Olympic Committee and USA Shooting events.

An avid bird hunter and fisher, McGinty is eager to apply her media talents to the world of competitive shooting, connect with members, and write for USA Shooting News. “I’m looking forward to increasing the quality of journalism and visual appeal in USA Shooting News with more features, athlete interviews, and articles with advice from experts in the respective disciplines,” said McGinty. In regard to potential benefits for both the readership of Shooting News and organization members, Executive Director Bob Mitchell said he is excited to bring McGinty’s “energy and enthusiasm for promoting USA Shooting and expanding our media reach, enhancing the visibility of the organization.”

A native of Orono, Minnesota, McGinty attended St. Lawrence University (Canton, New York) where her main concentration of study was Speech and Theater with a minor in Spanish. A voracious reader and writer, McGinty is as comfortable with issuing a press release as she is with polishing a piece on pistol shooting. When she’s not bringing USA Shooting members the latest information, you will find her outdoors, at the gym, or cooking/baking.

I hope Katie considers this a formal “invite” to join The Women’s Outdoor Media Association (www.TheWOMA.com). I know she’d make a great addition and I also know that there are so many members of The WOMA that can help Katie in different areas of her new position with USA Shooting!
