Babbs in the Woods: Fabulous Fashion Friday features Doeville

Welcome to the first in our series of Fabulous Fashion Friday (FFF). We are gearing this department toward women that desire to make a statement about their love for the outdoors, without wearing their hunting clothes in public.

To kick off the first FFF, we are going to visit Doeville and its lineup of apparel and accessories for the outdoor woman. We’re going to see if we can help Kim Pezzeminti, aka Madam Doeville, clear out her sale racks and shelves in her warehouse – so that she can go back to market and find more marvelous artisans and even more apparel. Some of these items are at giveaway prices, and with free shipping … we say start Christmas shopping early this year!

Here are some of our choices:

doeville hoodie.jpg Doeville Hoodie – All right, we didn’t say this was going to be HIGH fashion or haute couture. I own two of these hoodies, and believe me, they are my favorite ones in the world. Soft from the start and I like the Doeville colorful logo on the front. People who have complimented the sweatshirt automatically associate it with my love of the tradition of hunting. I have the sweatshirt in Sunset Orange and Creek Rock Natural. I’ve seen the Forest Green, and it’s very nice. On sale now for $20.

Trout Streamin’ Bandanna – Doeville has a sister (company) called Buki Originals. Kim Pezzeminti combined the two at her Doeville site. Buki Originals features artisan-quality, beautiful headware. I bought one of these for my girlfriend who loves to fly fish. Unfortunately, I found it after she had gone through the chemo treatments, but she still loved it and wears it.

I just ordered one for myself. Like the organic look it has to it. Only $10?

scarf.jpg Limited Edition Artisian Silk Wild Rag – Really, Kim, a rag? Elegant, numbered, like a piece of artwork. Wear it around your neck, or be bold and weave it in your favorite designer jeans’ belt loops. Get a little funk-kay with it. Call it a rag if you want. Only $30. Silk. Worth it.

cap.jpg Doeville Cap – Add a touch of camo to any summer outfit, except maybe formalwear. We like this desert camo look with orange lettering. And only $5?

tee.jpg Baby Doll Tee – Another $5 sale item, because Madame Doeville wants to clean house and order a new line. Available in four fashionable colors and only while supplies last. Soft, fine jersey with taped neck, double needle hem sleeves and bottom and little cap sleeves. How good would this look on a junior in your life? Get one in each color for that girl that is going back to school in a few weeks.

And because you saved so much money …

baby blue.jpg Baby Blue – To accentuate your apparel from Doeville, be sure to check out the line of jewelry, all handmade and designed by artisans chosen by Madame Doeville; most of them are close friends of hers. Artist Kim Cannon Hunt created this pure silver leaf forged in pure silver. It snuggles a faceted blue topaz hung on a simple sterling sliver chain. Treat yourself … $73.

antler_jewels_earrings.jpg Antler Jewelry – Absolutely, outdoor women must wear antlers somehow, and this is lightweight and bold, yet tasteful. We like these earrings, made with turquoise, African picture jasper, sterling silver and of course, naturally shed antlers. $35

Madame Doeville invites you to read her most excellent, warm and conversational blog, Madam Doeville Diaries.

We hope you will enjoy your little online shopping trip to Doeville!

If you know of an online business that caters to outdoor women’s fashion needs, let us know. Maybe we’ll feature it in a future FFF.

I definitely gotta have one of those hoodies. I’ve seen yours and it is a great quality product. I assume we just order from the Doeville site?

And I love the Fabulous Fashion Friday idea!!

There are so many beautiful things it’s hard to pick – but the silk ” rag” – (well that’s what we call them LOL) I think will be my choice! Years of wearing a plain solid colored one for almost everything – over my nose when it’s cold, around and in my collar, wrapped around my head to keep my hair out of things, warm in the winter, cool in the summer .. let’s just say that every self respecting trail rider in my neighborhood has a silk rag.. but this is much more beautiful than those plain old solid colored ones..
