Babbs in the Woods: Save a tree — shop online at Cabela’s

So, I open my rural mailbox and there it is … another Cabela’s specialty catalog. This one is for Christmas and features men’s chamois shirts.

Enough. I’ve had enough. I cannot take the onslaught of Cabela’s catalogs. After 30+ years, I’m tired. I have a lot of stuff. If I want something, I’ll check Cabela’s Bargain Cave first, and then, cross check over at Bass Pro or Gander Mountain or even, Amazon.

I think Cabela’s is worse with its paper marketing than the NRA. At least, the NRA just sends you invitation after invitation after invitation in envelope form. But Cabela’s … it sends me what seems like 500 pounds of paper a year . Or so it seems, because I have to haul it to the local recycling center every month.

So, good bye Cabela’s. I think I saved a tree somewhere.

It’s easy to do, by the way. Just phone up the catalog number at 800-237-4444 and request to be taken off the mailing list.

Good to know, they both drive me crazy! Think of all the money the NRA could put to better uses. Thankfully I can put catalogs/magazines/newspapers on the curb on recycling day.

Jodi, I think I read where organizations, such as the NRA, employ the “spaghetti on the wall” method of fundraising. Let’s throw it up there and some of it will stick. But soon, Cabela’s, the NRA, other organizations and businesses … they’ll be the only ones using the USPS any longer! Thanks for checking in here. Good to hear from you!
