Vermont Fish & Wildlife offers women’s hunting course

MONTPELIER — The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department is offering a combination hunter education and bowhunter education class geared toward women next weekend at Mountain Deer Taxidermy in Northfield.

The course will cover basic firearm handling and safety, proper shooting techniques, tree stand safety, game tracking, ethical hunting practices, basic survival skills and hunting regulations. Participants are encouraged to dress for a day outdoors, regardless of weather.

Before taking part in the field day, participants must pass the online firearms course at www.hunter-ed.com/vermont, and fill out a bowhunter manual. Manuals are available by calling Nicole Corrao at 318-1347.

Participants who pass the final written exam will receive hunter and bowhunter certifications valid in all U.S. states and Canadian provinces, as well as several other countries.

The event starts at 5 p.m. Friday and resumes Saturday. For more information and to register, go to www.register-ed.com/events/view/47675.
