Women-Only ‘Cast, Blast & Twang’ to be held in Steamboat Springs

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo.– — Women interested in learning about fly fishing and the basics of shotguns and archery are invited to a women­ only ‘Cast, Blast & Twang’ clinic in Steamboat Springs, Saturday, Aug. 9, beginning at 8:30 through mid-afternoon.

Designed for beginners, no experience or equipment is required. Participants may bring their own shotgun but all ammunition will be provided. Space is limited and spots will fill quickly. To register call Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s Steamboat Springs office at 970-­870-­2197.

Everyone should dress for the elements and bring all necessary supplies, including water, insect repellent, sunscreen, lunch and snacks. A prepared lunch is preferable as time to eat will be limited.

Participants are reminded that the class is not a Hunter Education course, which is required to purchase a hunting license. To find a Hunter Education course, go to www.cpw.state.co.us/learn/Pages/HunterEducation.aspx, or call your local Colorado Parks and Wildlife office.

‘Cast, Blast and Twang’ is offered through Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s Hunter Outreach Program. The program includes workshops, clinics, seminars and educational hunts that focus on teaching the skills, ethics and traditions of hunting to novice youth and women.
