Tycoon Tackle, Inc. announces the addition of a new pro-staff member—Erin Phelan

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA – Tycoon Tackle, Inc. announced the addition of Erin Phelan to the company’s Pro-Staff. Erin Phelan is the Assistant Executive Director of the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum (CFFCM) in Livingston Manor, New York, located on the Willowemoc River—the cradle of fly-fishing in America. Working at the Center has given her the ability to be at the center of the sport and she likes to say that she gets to work and play in fly-fishing.  She has taught fly-fishing, fly-tying, and entomology programs at the CFFCM and for the past ten years. Erin has served on the board and been an instructor for the New York State Brotherhood of the Jungle Cock (NYS BOJC) for the past five years.

Erin has spent the last 25 years intimately involved in the sport.  Her initial involvement in fly-fishing led to a passion and love for it, something that even surprised her!  Erin began fishing as a teenager with her now husband, Jeff.  Early on, she fished to spend time with Jeff and did not expect for it to become a passion or vocation.  Together, they have raised two daughters in the sport, now both championship distance casters, and as a family have enjoyed fishing in Alaska and Colorado.  As with all life’s passions, Erin is now moving from the world of collector to builder, taking the Bamboo Rod School at the CFFCM and completing her first bamboo rod.

Tim O’Brien, President of Tycoon Tackle said, “We are excited about having Erin as a member of our team.  Her knowledge of fly-fishing, fishing tackle, and reverence of the sport will be a tremendous asset to the company.  I am looking forward to working with her in the coming years.”

Tycoon Tackle, Inc. is a Charlottesville, Virginia-based angling outfitter that originated in Miami, Florida in 1935.  The company was on the scene in the formative years of big-game angling and at one time more than 95% of all world record fish were caught on the company’s fishing rods. Tim O’Brien, owner and President the company, said, “The company began with little money but ‘a fortune in ideas’ and in time grew to become a leader in the angling world, by not only making the best and most desirable fishing rods but by being a leader in promoting the catch and release of gamefish.”  The company is still family owned and committed to manufacturing products in the United States of America.
