The Well Armed Woman Shooting Chapters, a 501(C) 3 non-profit organization creates a safe and unintimidating environment for women to explore shooting and to hone their skills,” states Carrie Lightfoot, founder. Lightfoot launched The Well Armed Woman in 2012 to be a comprehensive resource for women gun owners, offering holsters and other shooting accessories designed for women as well as valuable information and resources to help them navigate the male driven world of firearms. Within a year of launching, it became clear that women were also hungry for women friendly shooting and training opportunities and the shooting chapter program was born in January of 2013. “Our shooting chapter program brings together women of all ages, backgrounds and political views. Monthly meetings focus on learning safe and responsible gun handling skills and how to become their own self-protector.” Says Lightfoot. “ As a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization it depends on the support of the industry and gun enthusiasts. “We average 7 to 8 new chapters a month, clearly, women are taking their new role as ‘self-protectors’ very seriously and with passion.” Lightfoot shares. “
