SEDRO WOOLLEY, Wash. – Kim Rhode, member of the USA Shooting Team and TruckVault-sponsored shooter won a silver medal in Women’s skeet at the ISSF World Cup in Rio on April 23. Rhode is a five-time Olympic medalist and is on track to represent the United States in the 2016 Summer Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The competition was settled in a shoot-off between 12th-ranked Rhode and second-ranked Sutiya Jiewchaloemmit of Thailand. The Thai shooter bested Rhode by one clay in a shoot-off during the first shooting event held at the Rio facility. Rhode used the contest as a primer for the upcoming Olympics.
I went into the Rio World Cup looking for shooting conditions and background and to gain confidence for the Olympic Games,” said Rhode. “I came home with a good measure of where I’m at in my training, and what I need to do to win.
In 2008, Rhode’s prized competition shotgun was stolen from the backseat of her vehicle. She approached TruckVault looking for a way to protect her valuable shotguns. In 2013, TruckVault partnered with Kim as she started her journey towards her sixth Olympic medal.
