Florida Fishing Clinic in Jacksonville designed for women anglers

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is casting its net for women interested in its Jacksonville fishing clinic, set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Sisters Creek Jim King Boat Ramp, 8203 Hecksher Drive. The free clinic provides women the opportunity to learn the basics of environmental stewardship, fishing ethics, angling skills and safety, and teach responsible resource awareness of the state’s fragile marine ecosystems. Fundamental saltwater fishing skills will also be demonstrated.

Fishing equipment and bait will be provided, but participants can bring their own. If conditions allow, the new anglers can practice their skills and fish from shore in a catch-and-release activity. A participants must have a valid recreational saltwater fishing license unless they are exempt from license requirements.

To register for this event, e-mail Kelly Campbell at Kelly.Campbell@MyFWC.com or call (850) 488-6058 for registration information.
