Now that turkey season is behind us and we are progressing into the dog days of summer, I am looking forward to sharing information on some really useful and exciting off-season products with readers. Before I do that, I wanted to bring you two last turkey hunting products that brought me success this past season worthy of mention.
One of the most useful tools in aid of getting gobblers within shooting range, in lieu of the various type calls used, are decoys. Lately, there have been many new decoys being marketed; everything from moving decoys to feathered decoys. Not only are there many various types of decoys on the market, the prices on these decoys run the gamut from economical to rather pricey.
This past spring, I had the opportunity to use two products in conjunction that proved very successful. Those products are the Carry-Lite Bob’N Tail Turkey Decoy and the Sidewinder Motion Stake. I was fortunate enough to witness the effects of this combination firsthand and reap the benefits on my Florida Osceola turkey hunt.
It came as no surprise how amazingly lifelike the Carry-Lite HD series was, afterall, Carry-Lite produced the infamous Pretty Boy decoy that has been so effective for many hunters. The Bob’N Tail Turkey Decoy features a high-definition realistic looking material skin that conforms to the contour of the decoy and mirrors the finest details of real turkey feathers in detail. The fade-resistant material reflects and enhances the natural colors of a turkey.
The Bob’N Tail tom is made with a full motion tail that mimics the natural strutting movements of real toms. The decoy is easy to set up and take down. The main body can be folded down and the tail is collapsible and disconnects from the main body of the decoy for easy transporting. Included with the decoy is the foldable fan, stake, and carrying bag. View the video, straight from the field, of the Bob’N Tail Turkey Decoy at this link Carry-Lite Bob\’N Tail Turkey Decoy.
The Sidewinder Motion Stake is a unique stake system that incorporates a pulley-like action, activated by a string, to mimic the specific movement of a strutting tom. Once the decoy is set out, the hunter pulls the string to activate the movement. The stake allows the target to move to the left as the stake mechanism pulls it back to the right in the starting position. When adding the Sidewinder Motion Stake to the Carry-Lite Bob’N Tail Turkey Decoy, it triggers the fighting behavior in toms when competing for breeding hens.
The Carry-Lite Bob’N Tail Turkey Decoy is economically priced at a MSRP of $59.99. Also available are the Pretty Mama HD and the Pretty Penny HD for a MSRP of $39.99 each. You can see these three decoys at www.carrylitedecoys.com. The Sidewinder Motion Stakes are priced at $40 for the entire set, including the string. You can see a video of the product in use at www.sidewindermotionstakes.org.
