Lady Bass Anglers Association Pro Tour — Day 1 Classic results

Garland, Texas – October 17, 2013 – Day one of the 2013 Lady Bass Angler Classic began with a chilly start this morning in Garland, Texas as a bone chilling 49 ° degree cold air mass gave way to a blue bird sky as the sun rose over Lake Ray Hubbard. The clear cold sky was following a front that had brought torrential rains to the areas of North Texas during the practice days leading up to today’s event.

Not the ideal conditions for any bass angler. However the ladies of the LBAA were not discouraged as they were forced to change the tactics that they had perfected during the dark cloudy skies and heavy rain while pre-fishing the lake. Displaying their ability to fish the conditions and to be as diverse as the lures they chose by bringing bass to the scales. Several of the ladies caught fish all day, but had difficulty meeting the 14” length required for largemouth from the waters of Ray Hubbard.

Currently holding the top positions is rookie pro angler, Ada Garrison Reed of Grandview, Tennessee who made a strong presence today with a bag of 4 fish weighing 11.79 with one fish at 5.18 lbs. which was today’s big bass of the weigh in. Waxahachie, Texas Pro, Patti Campbell  was close behind Reed with a 3 bass bag of 11.37 lbs. and a big bass at 4.99 lbs.
On the co-angler side,  Kim Martin from Clayton Indiana, is leading the field with a 3 fish co-angler limit totaling 9.79 Lbs. which is a strong lead over the second place contender Sharon Lawson of Red Bank, Tennessee who brought a limit to the scales of 5.23 lbs.
Despite the tough and changing conditions the ladies came to the scales with laughter and in good cheer as they discussed the antics of the day on Lake Ray Hubbard. With ambition and confidence in new patterns and techniques developed, the ladies will be ready for what day 2 will hold. With the reputation of this lake and the bass that are known to reside in it, the next two days may hold surprises for everyone.
