The Casting For Cats Ladies Backcountry Fishing Tournament started in 2001, a ladies, one-day backcountry fishing tournament to raise money to help feral cats here in the Upper Keys. What started out as a fun day of fishing has now become out major fund raiser to help so many needy animals. We are a 501(c)(3) charity recognized by the State of Florida. The tournament is held the third weekend in October every year. Once again in 2014, Hells Bay Boatworks has made one of their signature backcountry skiffs (18′ Waterman) available to be awarded to the first angler who is catches all six backcountry species during the tournament. No one has won the boat to date. New to the tournament in 2014 Dragonfly Boatworks is giving away a 10′ Custom Stand Up Paddleboard.
