Why: As USA Archery kicks off the 2016 United States Archery Team (USAT) Series, Phoenix will host one of the hottest archery events of the year. This international event will feature top archers from around the world and is a chance for U.S. archers’ to earn points for national ranking.

U.S. Olympic Team Trials

April 8th is a big day, not only the ranking round for the event and U.S. Team Trials for the 2016 World University Championships, but scores from this day will be used to rank Para archers as the first nomination shoot for the Rio 2016 Games. The U.S. Paralympic Team Trials will feature archery superstars: 2012 Paralympic gold medalist Jeff Fabry (Leemore, California), 2012 silver medalist, Guinness World Record holder and armless archer Matt Stutzman (Des Moines, Iowa), and local star, two-time Paralympian Eric Bennett (Surprise, Arizona).

Arizona Cup competition will also draw fans of the 2012 Olympic men’s team silver medalists, hometown hero Brady Ellison (Globe, Arizona), Jake Kaminski (Gainesville, Florida), and Jacob Wukie (Fremont, Ohio). 5-time Olympian and Olympic bronze medalist Khatuna Lorig (West Hollywood, California), who taught Jennifer Lawrence archery for her role as Katniss in the Hunger Games and U.S. Olympic Team Trials leaders Mackenzie Brown (Flint, Texas)and Zach Garrett (Wellington, Missouri) will also be top contenders.
April 11th will also be a great media opportunity to get photos and interviews with the top U.S. Para archers as a separate Para World Ranking Event.
