ALEXANDRIA, VA (July 7, 2021)- Johana Reyes, Director of Digital Strategy & Operations at the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF), was recently named one of Boating Industry’s Women Making Waves. “Throughout these tumultuous times, Johana has been essential in ensuring we provided the resources Americans need for a safe and fun fishing experience,” said RBFF Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications Stephanie Vatalaro. “As the outdoors became a wellness lifeline for so many during the pandemic, her leadership and expertise ensured our digital strategy and operations were ready to meet the surge in fishing and boating participation.”

During her nearly seven years with RBFF, Reyes’ work has made it possible for millions of people to get out on the water to enjoy boating and fishing by creating and making available a complete set of ‘how to’ and ‘where to’ content and delivering it to consumers in the channels they want. During Reyes’ tenure, fishing participation has risen to new heights, and boating has followed suit.

“More and more women are getting into leadership positions,” said Reyes. “The secret is to keep moving forward whether you feel prepared or not. You will realize one day that you made the right decisions, and you will recognize all the skills you gained in the process.”

2021 marks the fourth year of Boating Industry honoring female leadership in the industry with Women Making Waves. The full list of honorees can be found in the June/July issue of Boating Industry.

RBFF is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase recreational angling and boating participation, thereby protecting and restoring the nation’s aquatic natural resources. RBFF’s 60 in 60 effort strives to attract 60 million anglers to the sport by the end of 2021. To help recruit, retain and reactivate participants, RBFF developed the award-winning Take Me Fishing™ and Vamos A Pescar™ campaigns to build awareness of boating, fishing, and conservation and educate people about the benefits of participation.

The campaign websites feature how-to-videos and an interactive state-by-state map that allows visitors to find local boating and fishing spots, helping boaters and anglers of all ages and experience levels learn, plan, and equip for a successful day on the water.

RBFF also offers its industry stakeholders many tools including a Fishing License & Boat Registration Plugin to connect their customers with the information they need in just one click, as well as an embeddable Places to Fish & Boat Map to help their customers discover places to fish and boat near them.
