Review:  Elegear Double Sleeping Pad

I have an active family. With two sons, three- and five-years old, we love being outdoors. Specifically, we love camping. We’ve always had the boys in their sleeping bags on the ground since we mostly camp in grassy areas and air mattresses always take a much-needed snack space in the truck. Recently we had a campsite that was on the rockier side and thank goodness we had just gotten the Elegear double, self-inflating sleeping pad.

We were able to inflate it quickly, so it barely added any time to set up. Families with young children know how important it is to be able to load onto a campsite and get out on an adventure.

The pad is nice and wide (79”L x 55”W) so we were able to put both boys on with their sleeping bags and pillows. They even had enough room to roll around in the night, not end back up on the ground, or not end up on top of each other. It has an ergonomic one-piece pillow end supportive enough for adults, but my children also “need” their special lovie pillows. The boys love it and having their own special “equipment” that they can help set-up and break down has been such a game changer for us.

It took us a bit of time the first go-around to figure out the built in pump, once we did it only took a few minutes to fully inflate. There are some very helpful instructions on its Amazon page (make sure to cover the hole while you are pressing down). We’ve been incredibly impressed.

Typically, with air mattresses or inflatable pads, someone ends up on the ground halfway through the night or the next morning! The boys used it three nights in a row with no need to reinflate. When it’s time to pack up, it deflates very quickly, thanks to its two valves on the pillow end of the pad. Once deflated, it is easily folded and rolled up into its handy carrying bag. It weighs a mere five pounds.

We plan on bringing this along with us for all future camping excursions.

The Elegear Double Sleeping Pad is for sale on Amazon, and comes highly rated, yet comes with a one-year warranty. At the time this review went to publish, it cost $79.99.
