I call that Micro-Prepping, a minimalist version of being prepared for everyday emergencies and even a worst-case scenario. Prepping and minimalism might seem like they’re on opposite ends of the spectrum. Traditional prepping focuses on accumulating food and supplies — the more, the better — while the other emphasizes living with less, a lot less. However, I believe these two approaches can not only coexist but also complement each other, especially now when household budgets are increasingly stretched due to inflation.

I discovered the synergy between prepping and minimalism when our family expanded, and our living space felt smaller. Simultaneously, inheriting furniture as my parents downsized amplified my natural minimalist tendencies. The urge to declutter became intense!
