I hopped out of bed relatively early on a Saturday morning because, for some reason, as I tossed and turned in bed, I had an epiphany of how to write this review. Since early August, I’ve carried the Nova RFID Compact Leather Wallet by Lady Conceal almost daily, and boy, do I have a story to share. Read on to find out why this compact leather wallet deserves her (yes, I’m assuming it’s female) own place in the circus.
First, I was a bit concerned when she arrived. I’m used to a small wallet, but with a size of 4″ L x 3″ H x .75″ D, this one is very compact. As you can see from the photo below, my well-worn previous wallet is about twice the width and larger all around. Carrying everything I needed would take some magic, or so I thought.
Did you ever see a clown car at a circus? You know the one where the car is tiny, and clown after clown keeps coming out? You have to wonder, “How the heck did they all fit in there?” It’s like in the 1950s when college students would see how many people they could stuff into a phone booth. (You know, that thing on the side of the road where you put in a quarter to call your parents to come pick you up.) That’s what I imagined once I started putting all my cards into this compact wallet. But instead of being a mess, I fit all the essential cards and IDs that I needed in her in an organized fashion.
The Nova RFID Compact Leather Wallet offers three places to store your cards and IDs. In the ID window, I fit my driver’s license, concealed carry card and insurance card. Then there is a slot which currently holds my Costco membership card and a gift card. If I had the Costco app, I wouldn’t even need to bring the card, but that’s for another day. Now, here is where the circus comes in again. Picture the snake charmer as he plays his pungi (the musical instrument that tames the snakes), and they slowly begin to rise out of a basket. This tiny little wallet features an auto-pop-up design that holds six credit cards for me. I love it! It’s like magic. Sometimes I feel like a magician pulling a rabbit out of my hat. I’ve shown my little trick to many people when I’m at the register checking out of a store. They are always impressed.
On the back of the wallet is a little zippered pouch for change. I carry my little keychain library card in there, some quarters for Aldi, and a few pennies, which are now becoming rare.
And finally, the entire side of the wallet opens for carrying paper money, which is becoming rare these days (not the money, but the carrying). However, I always like to have some cash with me, which brings me to my only complaint about the Nova RFID Compact Leather Wallet. To place my money in the bill holder, I have to fold it in half. I reached out to Lady Conceal with the concern, and here is the response I promptly received, “We designed it to be compact enough to fit into even the smallest bags. For that reason, it isn’t quite as tall as a traditional wallet. We figured that if someone is carrying cash, they could simply fold the bills. These days, many people prefer to carry only credit cards and little to no paper money, so we wanted to prioritize keeping it sleek and lightweight.” After reading this response, I brought out my Shay Leather RFID Crossbody by Lady Conceal, which is the smallest purse they carry. I found that, yes, the Nova fits perfectly inside. So I do agree with the size choice.
