The Second Annual Ladies Doe Antelope Hunt, held December 6–8, was an absolute success: an empowering, educational, and downright unforgettable experience for a small group of A Girl & A Gun members.
Hosted by Harrison’s Hunting on the sprawling 7IL Ranch, which boasts over 50,000 acres of huntable land in prime pronghorn country, the event was designed to combine safety, skill-building, and ethical hunting in one epic adventure.

The antelope hunt kicked off with a comprehensive safety briefing before participants sighted in their firearms for precision. Some hunters even got extra practice honing their aim on prairie dogs, making sure they were field-ready.
The results? Every participant successfully harvested a doe antelope, which was no small feat when you consider the pronghorn is North America’s fastest land animal. The achievement showcased not just the incredible land and hunting conditions, but also the preparation, mentorship, and supportive camaraderie that made the weekend so special.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Starla Batzko, Chapter Facilitator of the Sheboygan County, WI Chapter, whose mentorship and passion for conservation, ethical hunting, and the outdoors inspired and guided the hunters throughout the experience.
More than just a hunt, this event delivered confidence, friendship, and memories that will last a lifetime. As participant Barb Miller from Lakewood, CO put it, it was truly a bucket-list experience and the ultimate badass girl trip.
