On August 12, 2025, world-renowned champion shooter, author and military veteran Julie Golob announced her partnership as brand ambassador for Springfield Armory. Now that she’s had time to settle into the role, it’s time to learn more about how it’s going and what this new chapter means for her storied career.
Now that you’ve had time to work with the many Springfield Armory firearms, do you have a favorite?
It’s difficult for me to think in terms of “favorites” when it comes to firearms. I’m more purpose-oriented and consider how specific features make it easier for me to be successful with whatever I’m shooting, whether that’s in competition, while I’m carrying, or just getting some trigger time. I’m naturally drawn to Springfield’s numerous 1911 and Prodigy selections based on years of competition, but I also appreciate our polymer-framed pistols. The Hellcat, Hellcat Pro and Echelon are durable, thoughtfully designed and meet the needs for carry and defense. As much as I enjoy finely tuned metal-framed handguns, the Echelon makes for a very capable option in competition, too. When I look at the company’s catalog of rifles, from classic bolt guns to modern offerings, I have many options. As someone who appreciates the nostalgia of the classics, like the M1A, 1911 and SA-35, I also benefit from the innovative features and functionality of the SAINT and Kuna models, and as I mentioned, Hellcat and Echelon offerings. So, to choose a favorite? That’s just too difficult.
You’re going on six months with Springfield. What is the best part so far?
Springfield Armory is one of the most successful firearms companies in the world, and though it’s one of the biggest names in the industry, it has this special quality. Spending time with company leadership, working with the marketing team and meeting the everyday folks dedicated to building and supporting the products, there’s a sense of ownership, teamwork and pride. Everyone at the company has been so welcoming. I love that I get to be a part of it by not just sharing what we make, but also representing the dedicated people behind the brand, too.
You’ve already written several books (two print, one eBook). When can we expect the next one?
The new book, a guide to concealed carry for women, is a work in progress and, if all goes to plan, will launch this year. As a wife, mom, and pro shooter, it’s not always easy to squeeze in time to write, but I’m excited to share my knowledge and experience with those interested in owning and carrying a firearm for defense. From the mindset and choosing the best tool to the types of carry and how to conceal effectively, the book focuses on education and safe, practical options for women when it comes to guns, gear and fashion.
Do you have advice for young ladies just getting started in the shooting industry?
It’s so exciting to see the number of young women not just on the range, but also pursuing a career around firearms. When I took my first job in the shooting industry more than 20 years ago, there were far fewer women, and now we see women at every level. There are so many role models to look up to and paths to take. The potential to thrive is huge, and I think one of the greatest challenges for young women can be FOMO – a fear of missing out. The frenetic pace we see on social media can lead not just to bad work, but also to burnout. To enjoy a rewarding career, my advice is to be selective. Evaluate every opportunity and commit to what you can in a way that allows you to perform your best and continue to grow.
