As leadership and networking for the NSSF takes center stage in the month of May, at its annual Marketing and Leadership Summit, Virginia County Clerk of the Prince William Circuit Court, Jackie Smith, remains a champion for Project ChildSafe and improving gun safety. Project ChildSafe operates in tandem with the other REAL SOLUTIONS’ initiatives to protect and proliferate gun ownership.
As spring reaches its crescendo, leaders like Jackie Smith continue to serve as a blossoming example of proactivity where it counts. As the Clerk of the Circuit Court, service to the broader community is paramount. Jackie’s attention to and work with Project ChildSafe has helped reinforce the objective of community safety; additionally, this teamwork directly contributed to the most gun permits issued in the Commonwealth of Virginia as of 2024.
A willingness to be a public servant is often synonymous with a dedication to helping when and where possible. Jackie sees fit to expand her influence in the Project ChildSafe vein by showcasing data and proven safety methods that increase safe exposure to guns, along with educating firearm owners. Free gunlocks have become characteristic of this initiative and are available in police departments across the United States.
One of Project ChildSafe’s keystones is its website that houses an easily navigable trove of information and scenario-driven resources. Topics and toolkits range from suicide prevention to first-time shooter information and checklists. Project ChildSafe’s dynamic partners are promoting these efforts and the results are quantifiable, say nothing of the boundless emotional impact of keeping even one child safe.
Leadership, such as Jackie’s, is influencing people toward a common goal. As a result, empowerment is surfacing downstream from the conversations that are happening around gun safety. Jackie’s support of Project ChildSafe is an invaluable echo of a broader communal belief in promoting “responsible firearm ownership.”
