This winter, I reviewed the beautiful and functional Icebug Adak boots. As summer rolls around, I need a lightweight and comfortable sneaker fit for outdoor adventures and outings in town alike. The Icebug Eli RB9X work well on both dry and wet surfaces, either walking and hiking. Slipping on this pair of sneakers, I knew I’d found my perfect summer sneaker.
I selected the Icebug Eli RB9X in the color terracotta. The first thing I noticed when these sneakers came out of the box is not only how attractive they are, but how little they weigh. I slipped them on my feet with ease, and was impressed by how comfortable they feel. The insoles cushion, and the upper fabric breathes. Here are a few details from the Icebug website:
One recent summer morning, I pulled on my Elis – I love that they don’t have traditional laces. My husband and I loaded up our kids and family dog and headed outside to walk and explore the creek. Even without socks, these sneakers are so comfortable. When walking on the sandy, muddy banks or on the creek bed, the snug fit of the upper didn’t allow pesky and poky rocks or sticks between it and my foot. Although the soles are non-studded, they still provide appropriate traction to not slip on wet, mossy surfaces like that at the creek or in the woods.
After a morning spent in the creek and on its muddy bank, I simply rinsed, then hung the Elis on my shoe rack to dry. Another great thing that makes these shoes a sustainable option is their ability to be machine washed. Icebug recommends washing them with a few towels on a cold wash, with regular detergent. Then, remove the insole and allow the shoes to fully air dry.
The Icebug Eli RB9X sneakers are the perfect summer shoe. They are attractive, made of material that is breathable and perfect for hot summer days. The Eli is ergonomic and super comfortable to be worn either walking or adventuring. These shoes are machine washable, and ready to get dirty (and clean again) on many adventures outdoors.
