The International Game Fish Association (IGFA) has expanded its record and recognition programs with the addition of a new Trophy Fish Club species and two new All-Tackle Length World Record categories. The additions give anglers around the world more ways to earn IGFA recognition for exceptional catches while supporting the conservation-minded angling the organization champions.
The IGFA remains committed to recognizing outstanding catches through a range of record and achievement programs. The new Trophy Fish Club and All-Tackle Length additions build on that commitment and open new opportunities for anglers across freshwater and saltwater.
“Our angler recognition programs have always been about honoring those who put in the time and skill to land a special fish,” said Jason Schratwieser, IGFA President. “Adding the Smallmouth Bass Trophy Fish Club and these new All-Tackle Length records gives more anglers, in more places, a meaningful way to be recognized for the catches they work so hard for.”
New Trophy Fish Club Addition
Smallmouth Bass (Micropterus dolomieu)
Recognized as one of North America’s premier freshwater game fish, the smallmouth bass is known for its aggressive strikes and remarkable fighting ability. Found throughout rivers, streams, and lakes across North America, the species has long been a favorite among recreational anglers. Because of the extensive history of the IGFA World Records program, opportunities for new record catches of smallmouth bass are limited. The new Smallmouth Bass Trophy Fish Club gives anglers a fresh avenue for recognition when they land an exceptional smallmouth. To qualify, a smallmouth bass must weigh 2.7 kg (6 lb) or greater, or measure 48 cm (18.9 in) or greater.

New All-Tackle Length World Records
Native to the Iberian Peninsula, the Andalusian barbel has earned a reputation among freshwater and fly anglers for its strength and spirited fight. The species is widely sought after throughout its range and stands as an important European freshwater sportfish. Its inclusion in the IGFA All-Tackle Length, All-Tackle Length Fly and All-Tackle Length Junior World Record categories expands record opportunities for European anglers and supports continued participation in the IGFA’s catch-and-release record program. Minimum Qualifying Length: 28 cm
Yellowspotted Trevally (Turrum fulvoguttatum)
A well-regarded game fish throughout the Indian Ocean and western Pacific, the yellowspotted trevally is targeted by inshore, nearshore, and flats anglers alike. The species is especially popular in waters where catch-and-release practices are common. Adding the yellowspotted trevally to the IGFA All-Tackle Length, All-Tackle Length Fly and All-Tackle Length Junior World Record categories creates new opportunities for anglers to earn record recognition while supporting conservation-minded angling. Minimum Qualifying Length: 52 cm
