I’ve spent time with him when he’s teaching and giving demonstrations, sharing his knowledge and passion for shotgun sports (and the shotgun itself). You know he’s doing something he loves. Here are a few titles and accomplishments in Dave’s 25 years in the shotgun community, not including his 17 years as the shotgun product manager at CZ-USA:
Dave works with two women at Akkar USA, Sherri Goodwin and Alice Poluchova. I reached out to them with a few questions to learn more about their shotgun backgrounds and their commitment to Akkar USA.
Sherri Goodwin worked at CZ-USA for 22 years, starting as National Sales Manager and then serving nine years as Vice President of Sales. During her time there, she worked with the executive team to develop strategies and programs that helped the company grow into a multimillion-dollar business.
1. What is your favorite shotgun sport?
My favorite would be sporting clays and 5-Stand. I enjoy the variety because no two targets are exactly the same. It challenges you to concentrate, learn the proper lead and become more consistent with your shooting. I also love that it can be competitive, but it can just as easily be a fun day outdoors with family and friends.
2. Do you hunt?
I really enjoy upland bird hunting, especially because it combines being outdoors, working with a dog and the excitement of a fast-moving bird. There is something very satisfying about having your shotgun become part of the entire experience rather than simply being the equipment you carry.
For me, Akkar is about more than selling shotguns. It is about introducing people to a sport they can enjoy for a lifetime and helping them find a shotgun that makes them feel confident and comfortable.

3. What is your favorite Akkar shotgun?
One of my favorites is the Akkar Ladies Country. I particularly like it because it was designed with the female shooter in mind. Fit is so important with a shotgun, and having one that feels comfortable, handles well and lets the shooter naturally get into position can make a tremendous difference. I also like that it is a beautiful shotgun without sacrificing the functionality that a shooter expects.
Why do you feel the three of you make such a great team?
I think the three of us complement one another really well. We each bring different strengths and perspectives to Akkar, but we share the same goal: building the Akkar brand and taking care of our customers. We communicate well, support one another and aren’t afraid to jump in and help wherever we are needed.
I also think there is something special about being part of a team where everyone genuinely cares about what they are doing. We want Akkar to be recognized not only for its firearms, but also for the people and customer service behind the brand.
With 30 years of experience in the firearms industry, Alice Poluchova has worked across many aspects – from operations to leadership roles. Originally in charge of the team that grew CZ-USA and Dan Wesson Firearms, Alice brings valuable expertise to her role at Akkar USA.
During her time off, Alice enjoys the outdoors, from hiking and biking to fly fishing. She achieved Master Class in NSCA competitions.
1. What is your favorite shotgun sport?
I enjoy shooting both Sporting Clays and Super Sporting.
2. What shotgun do you use when you hunt?
Right now I’m working on mastering the 28 gauge, so I’ve been practicing with the Akkar High Noon Elite side-by-side ahead of the upcoming bird season.
3. What is your favorite Akkar shotgun?
My favorite Akkar shotgun is the High Noon Elite. Beyond how it shoots, the wood is drop-dead gorgeous – it’s the kind of gun you want to show off as much as shoot.
4. Why should someone purchase an Akkar shotgun?
The wood-to-metal fit is excellent, the design is beautiful, they’re genuinely comfortable to shoot and the prices are reasonable. On top of that, Akkar USA backs it up with great customer service.
5. Why do you feel the three of you make such a great team?
We’ve been working together for a long time, and each of us brings something different to the table. Dave knows shotgun history inside and out – the purpose behind every model – and has a real talent for designing guns with features people are drawn to. Sherri is in charge of sales, and she can sell to even the toughest customer. And I try to keep the back office running smoothly and keep an eye on compliance. What ties it all together is mutual respect and our shared passion for the shotguns, the sport and the hunt.
I had the opportunity to chat with Dave on the phone recently, and, as I wrote above, his enthusiasm and excitement when talking about shotguns are over the top. Since 2014, Dave has worked closely with Akkar in Istanbul. He knows the high-quality firearms they produce.
