Carrying a firearm should not be a heedless endeavor, whether concealed or open carry. When lives are at stake, it’s serious business and if you decide to carry, and stand in the seriousness, it could mean you save a life. That’s why CCW Safe is a great option, offering emotional support and legal protection for law abiding citizens who choose to protect themselves or others from harm.
On my journey to become a member of the concealed-carry population, I took a concealed carry class. It was as if the weight that had been keeping me from carrying wasn’t lifted, but evenly distributed and manageable. In all fairness, there should be a weight, but not one that paralyzes you. With a new confidence, I went away with a clear understanding of my rights, responsibility and the laws established.
There are situations that can bleed into gray areas when it comes to home invasion, self-defense and third-party protection. With that in mind there are other protective measures to consider. I generally don’t direct people to go into the “What if” downward spiral. But it is important to be aware of the possibilities and measures you can take to prevent a tragedy or crime against you or your family and friends. I took into consideration those things and began my journey into a membership with CCW Safe protection offerings. CCW Safe offers different levels of legal protection equipped to serve everyone. It was an easy venture to sign up; each plan is clearly explained including pricing and coverage. I chose the Defender Plan, for $209 annually, because of the cost and the multi-state coverage, as well as a host of other benefits, which you can see below in the graphic.
Now that I have my concealed-carry permit, along with CCW Safe support, if I am within my legal rights to carry, I carry. I travel a lot and like most women, my wardrobe varies. I choose among yoga pants, jeans and even dresses (which can create issues in many ways). I need a versatile option, and I also need to get accustomed to each position or piece of equipment. I find that a Crossbreeds Reckoning Holster ($59.96), customized for the Ruger RXM 9mm Pistol (MSRP $599.00), in combination with my Crossbreed Liberty Band (MSRP $27.71) works well.
Yoga pants are my most common choice because they are comfortable and allow me to go from nearly no activity into high energy activities while being comfortable. The Reckoning holster is what I may call a convertible option. It can slide in the waist band with comfort because the Kydex backer feels like a part of your clothing. There are many adjustable points on it, the clips as well as retention points. It can be worn inside the waistband as is, and with some hardware, it can be transformed into an outer carry option.
What is the difference from when I began my journey to now? When I began, I felt at the mercy of circumstance and others, hoping and praying I wouldn’t require the protection I hadn’t yet taken the measures to achieve. I still hope and pray I don’t find myself in a situation that would require me to utilize my weapon, but I am at the very least prepared to do so. With the appropriate tools, both physically and mentally, the journey ahead in the unpredictable world we live in, is more navigable with confidence.
Between everything I learned from the CWP Class and CCW Safe, I have been provoked to act to the responsibility ahead. I’ve committed to training for awareness, confidence and efficiency. The CCW Safe website offers helpful resources for me, as well, such as the EmpowerHer series.
If you are among the carrying population without a concealed carry permit, have you given much thought to your responsibility? I don’t recommend the class strictly for legal purposes, but educational as well. Once you’ve done that, it may bring to light the severity of the position you are standing in when you carry. When you do, that’s when CCW Safe makes sense and possibly, allows you to sleep better at night.
Also, just a note, CCW Safe isn’t for when you only defend your life with a firearm. There might be times when another tool or object is the only method of defense. CCW Safe is there for you in this scenario, as well.
