Alison Hester, of MamaBear Training, believes in women’s empowerment. Mothers that are armed and trained help prevent the victimization of the family and most importantly, their children. With the help of the NSSF’s Real Solutions initiative and Project ChildSafe, Alison is showcasing the uniqueness and protective worth of mothers and women in general.
Under the Real Solutions umbrella, Alison taps into the Project ChildSafe vein. Characterized by its prowess as a nationwide firearms safety and education program, its wealth of information is only surpassed by its tangible efforts to secure more guns. Project ChildSafe has proudly coordinated with law enforcement across the country to house free cable locks. This provides an easy baseline level of safety for securing guns and keeping accidents away from children.
As the optics of popular culture concerning the differences between men and women shift back into the realm of common sense, Alison makes a point of galvanizing the defensive abilities of mothers and women alike. MamaBear Training recognizes that disarming women contributes to the victimization of women and “that is not acceptable.” With the tools and skills to protect loved ones, women can rely less on legislation that impedes progress and more on the wholeness and strength of the family unit.
Some women may feel discouraged and divorced from the flock with male trainers and fellow students. Alison taps into this concern by offering the opportunity for one-on-one female lessons in addition to group instruction. Her efforts – not dissimilar to addressing the worth of an individual –is further empowered by the realization that the sanctity of the one woman or one mother often has the tremendous gift of impacting children and learners to come.
