Publisher/Editor Barbara Baird is a freelance writer in travel and outdoor markets. Before launching “Women’s Outdoor News,” aka The WON, in 2008, she worked as a newspaper and then magazine editor. Her bylines have been published in a host of top-tier outdoor and travel publications. She writes a popular travel blog, based on a former self-syndicated newspaper column, “The Accidental Ozarkian.” She is working on a second mill book, after publishing “Milling Around: Exploring 26 Mills in the Missouri Ozarks,” in 2024.
Barbara writes “Babbs in the Woods” at The WON, an offshoot of her days as a newspaper columnist who kept getting invites to spend time hunting, fishing and exploring the outdoors. She also opines in her column titled “The Barb Wire.”
