We’re always looking for a new perspective in catching the action when videoing a Babes with Bullets™ camp. One of the perspectives we’ve captured is by using a head cam when the Babe runs a stage.
The head cam gives a great interesting cut-a-way, but the camera is heavy for our caps and it does not give a “Babes look” when captured in the A roll camera’s footage.
In walks the eye cam from Sportsman Eyewear, kind of new in the industry, but looks to answer “our” needs. It happens to be a pair of sunglasses with a built-in camera. As you can see with this video, it works the same as a head cam but easier to attach to your head, more natural. Deb Ferns is wearing the glasses in the video.
The glasses come in a couple of different colors, three different colored lenses, uses an SD card, films in HD, drag and drop files onto your computer for easy editing … way simple. It takes video/audio as well as stills with just a press of a button. These glasses have put a smile on both Deb’s and my faces.

I second Paige’s comment about designing a pair to fit over eyeglasses – I would love to have a pair of these – especially for capturing bowfishing video – but alas I can’t wear contacts and am blind as a bat without my specs… other than that – they look like a great item for the gear bag!
Although the website didn’t specifically say so, I’m assuming these glasses meet safety standards for protective eye-wear you’d need for shooting. It would be nice if they listed some specifications on their site. It would also be nice if they made these to fit OVER regular eyeglasses for us folks who can’t wear contacts and have to wear eyeglasses. They are perfect for recording a “shooter’s” eye view at camp and they do have that “Babes” look, especially since Deb isn’t a hat person…ha!
