My New Diaper Bag: The Lady Conceal Daisy Leather Backpack

I’ve written previously about the joys of carrying a diaper bag that has room for everything AND the kitchen sink. But what happens when your baby outgrows the need during an outing for multiple diaper and outfit changes, various toy and distraction options, tons of snacks, etc.? The Lady Conceal Daisy Leather Backpack offers a compact solution for a modern diaper bag.

Now that I have three children, ranging in age from 14 months to 5-years old, my needs in a diaper bag have changed. Lugging around a large purse now feels cumbersome, as I am usually balancing a squirming toddler on my hip and wrangling my 4- and 5-year old children simultaneously. A small backpack allows me to be handsfree, but still carry the necessary kid equipment. A tote bag or basket in the car holding the overflow (extra big kid outfits, sweatshirts, baby diapers, etc.) is the key to allowing me the freedom to carry a small, yet fabulous, diaper backpack.

Choosing the Bag

Lady Conceal offers many backpacks and slings, but I was immediately drawn to the Daisy Leather Backpack because of its gorgeous stitching detail. This bag offers a variety of pockets, zip pockets and flaps – and it is also a concealed carry bag. I ordered the colorway “cognac,” as it really shows off the distressed leather finish. The depth of this color is even more apparent in person.

The Lady Conceal website even offers a gun size chart for each of its bags, so that you can find the right bag to fit your concealed carry pistol. The Daisy Leather Backpack will fit up to a small frame handgun.

Daisy Leather Backpack Specs

This beautiful backpack measures 9.5″ L x 12.5″ H x 5″ D. This is the perfect size to fit nicely in the center of my back, without getting snagged on items around my person. Below are a few of the features that stand out to me most about this bag:

  • Includes a built-in wallet compartment that is RFID equipped. This means that I don’t need to dig through a bag to find my wallet. The card slots and pen holders are easily accessed underneath the most exterior flap of the purse. This is a game changer when trying to hold a kid and checkout pronto.

  • For a relatively small bag, this purse offers a variety of storage pockets. I am able to easily fit all I need for an outing.
  • There is a zip pocket on the exterior of the bag that is perfect for car keys. The zipper makes me feel that my keys are secure. Because this pocket is outside of the RFID compartment, I can still lock and unlock my vehicle without having to actually remove my keys from my bag.

  • Double zipper on the main enclosure: this means that I don’t have to search for the zipper’s end while twisting around holding a baby or toddler. This may seem like a small detail, but it has often come in handy.
  • Secure, zipper pocket for safe CCW storage.

  • There is a zipper connecting the backpack straps, that (when zipped closed) converts the bag to a sling-style. This backpack also offers a generous top handle. This makes easy the act of hauling the bag out of your backseat.

How I Use the Lady Conceal Daisy Leather Backpack

For a typical day outing or errand into town, I pack the following items into my diaper backpack:

  • Two diapers, wipes, Aquaphor, hand sanitizer, sunglasses case and a zip pouch with all of my personal amenities. And, there is still room to throw in a quart-sized baggie filled with snacks (for the kids, and me).
