Guru Huntress: She’s got a new ‘crush’ … BPS’s Limited Edition ‘The Crush’ Scent-Lok Ensemble

I was at Bass Pro the other night picking up a few things for my upcoming hunts. I walked over to the hunting clothes department to see if there was anything new that may have made it under my radar. Walking into the area, something caught my eye and like a magnet, I was drawn to it.

As I approached the rack, I immediately saw the Scent-Lok tag hanging from the sleeve.  Of course, it had my attention since I am a big believer in Scent-Lok. I took the hanger from the rack and held the Realtree AP print jacket out in front of me for inspection. Hmmm, this was interesting. Hot pink! Not a lot of it—just a splash in the embroidery emblem and zipper pull-tabs—just the right touch of color to make it HERS.

I have owned every piece of Scent-Lok for Ladies up until this point. It has worked very well for me despite the recent controversy over its effectiveness. I am also very attentive to making sure I do ALL of the necessary steps that need to be taken to remain scent-free in the woods—so Scent-Lok is an added insurance to my regimen.

Up until Bass Pro Exclusive, The Crush, Limited Edition Scent-Lok hunting wear for ladies, I have found that the design of Scent-Lok garments for ladies has always been basic; two pockets on the coats and two cargo pockets on the pants with elastic waistband-which works well, but did not offer any other options. I was amazed to find all the new features in these garments.

Bass Pro’s Exclusive, The Crush, Limited Edition Scent-Lok ensemble includes a jacket, vest and pants. The jacket made of a mid-weight scent-controlling ClimaFleece shell with a micro fleece lining has unique contoured, double-paned elbows for ease of motion and is designed with 6 front pockets for stowing essentials.

The jacket incorporates 3 interior pockets; two mesh pockets and a convenient zipper pocket idea for electronics such as a cell phone or walkie-talkie. There is a small zipper pocket on the right sleeve idea for storing a release and both sleeves have zippers that run the elbow to wrist length to allow for easy on/off when layering. The collar has a tab that covers the zipper so that it can be worn comfortably when zipped up entirely.

The Crush Limited Edition Vest

The vest is made with the same ClimaFleece shell as the jacket but has a hi-loft fleece lining for added warmth. There are 5 handy pockets for gear strategically placed on the front of the vest. The elastic gusset in the lower back keeps the vest from gapping and allows for a comfortable fit. The vest can be worn with the jacket to help keep the body core warm in colder weather or can be worn alone on warmer days.

There is one new design to the jacket and vest that is a real necessity for those who hunt from elevated stands; a pass-through port above the shoulder blades in the back of the jacket for allowing a safety harness strap to be utilized while wearing the jacket. The port has a zipper so it can be zipped closed when not in use and a flap that neatly hides the port.

The Crush Limited Edition Pants

The pants are designed with articulated knees, slanted zip pockets, convenient leg zippers and allows for the perfect range of movement. They are designed with a ClimaFleece shell and lined. There is a moisture resistant facing on the thighs and reinforced seating area. There are multiple magnetic closures for silence when stowing or retrieving gear from the pockets. The convenient lower leg zippers allow for easy access to boots when putting them on or taking them off.

Hey Amanda…I am so sorry that I missed this post! I will check with my contacts at ScentLok and Bass Pro to see if they are going to do another exclusive limited edition set this season. The ensemble sold well last season so I am thinking this might be something they are going to run again. I will check and I hope to have an answer within the week.

Thank you for reading the WON.

Any news after following up with Guru Huntress? I’m still searching everywhere with no luck 🙁

Any ideas on where to get this jacket now? I tried to get it towards the end of rifle last year, but unfortunately it’s been sold out. I keep checking ebay and everything, but no luck. I saw the Medium in my local bass pro store, but it was a tad too small for layering. So I definitely need a large. HELP!

I think we need to go to the Guru Huntress with this question. Will follow up. I know, it’s frustrating to have to a) shop in men’s wear or b) not have the store carry your size or c) as in this case, not be able to find it online! Will get back to you.
      Thanks for reading the WON.

I have to be honest and say I spend way too much money on hunting gear but what I have found since the start is that when I have spent a little more money on a quality item, it far outlast having to replace it so often.

My first year hunting, I bought two pairs of BDUs, 2 long sleeve T-shirts and 2 long sleeve button-up shirts for around $112 and they were definitely medium grade products. I spent 268 hours in the field during deer season alone….needless to say by turkey season I only had one set of mix-match camo to wear–those pieces that didn’t wear out. So I had to purchase more camo to get me through the season. So basically, I paid for what I got—but I also ended up paying more for what I needed.

I purchased my first ScentLok set, the Ladies Savanah and I spent 340 hours out in the field with that one suit–that was three years ago—and I still hunt in it today. So in the long run I actually saved money on my hunting clothes.

I agree with Barbara, ask for the set for Christmas or ask for Bass Pro gift cards on your Christmas list….maybe all pulled together you can have a great start.

But regardless of what camo by what company you choose, always remember QUALITY for the field is the most important. Good luck this season.

    Krissy,
I hear you about the economy and tough times. Just watch for some sales, or what I’ve done is ask for camo for the big gifts … you know … Christmas, anniversary, etc.! Thanks for reading the WON and thanks for hunting. Let us hear about your season, whatever you wind up wearing out there!

I am sure that the scent lok “crush” items are good but I could never afford to pay that kind of money for them. I am a pastors wife and this economy is killin us!
