Week #4 of Bang Bang Boutique’s giveaway streak — featuring the Flashbang holster

We know you’ve been waiting for this one … our final Bang Bang Boutique giveaway before Christmas! We’re sure that you’ve heard about the Flashbang holster that attaches to your bra. In fact, if you want to read a fine review of the product from a woman who works at a gun range, read about Shelley Rae’s experience in her review over at Gun Nuts Media.

Up close and personal.

Shelley writes, “The holster sits between a girl and the underwire of her bra and has a leather loop that wraps around the middle strap on a bra to keep the holster in place. I’ve spent the past few weeks playing with the Flashbang and am happy to say that it’s a great product.”

Bang Bang Boutique’s proprietor, Kimberly Bortz, agrees with Shelley:

This innovative bra holster has revolutionized the way women can concealed carry their handguns. Historically, style savvy markswomen have been challenged with balancing fashion with the responsibility of carrying on body, which usually ended in baggy, unflattering clothes. With the Flashbang Holster, no longer will women have to compromise their style identity for their safety. Now, they can have both.

The handgun snaps intro a hard plastic shell that has been custom designed for many models of concealed carry firearms — with more added on a regular basis. Three leather straps of different lengths are included to attach the holster firmly to the middle of your favorite bra. They change out with a screwdriver. The gun fits inside the bra band against your chest, which supports the gun and holds it securely in place. This design also ensures you will not notice the weight of your firearm. Even when wearing fitted t-shirts, this holster virtually disappears under clothing, allowing a woman to wear what makes her comfortable … even when she is carrying.

So … how about you? Why don’t you give it a shot here and see if you can win the prize?

I carry because I never want to say I wish I’d had my gun. Or could not say it because it’s all ready to late. I know how to use it better than most men I hit what I aim at and use common sense. To many bad people carry who have no idea or are dangerous. I’m not gonna be a tragedy if I can help it.

I carry concealed, one for the reason of it is our rights as americans that we have and two for safety. Unfortunately there are a lot of wackos in our world and it will be them before it will be me. I have no hesitations about using it. They won’t turn my weapon back on me. No one expects a pretty thing to be carrying and that is a great reason. Go ahead, make my day 😀

2yrs ago I went on my own to get my conceal license (left hubby behind) because my kids & myself are always by ourselves. Hubby works a lot & never with us. I feel like I’m the one in charge to protect my family. I feel comfortable & safe with my concealed gun.

I am in the process of getting my concealed carry permit. I will be carrying a gun in case I need to defend my life, or the lives of my family. I know it is a serious responsibility, and I take it with the utmost of care and respect.

  • Seth says: December 22, 2011 at 9:30 am

I carry to protect my family and myself. Now I need to get my wife carrying to protect them when I’m not there.

  • Mary M says: December 22, 2011 at 9:29 am

In August my husband retired from the police force and we moved our family from California to Texas. With this being a gun carrying state, I thought I should look into getting a gun (my husband had to turn his in). Online I found A Girl and a Gun and me and my 14 year old daughter joined this group of women and it has been a very educational and definately fun group! I don’t have my license yet, but plan on getting it the first of the new year. We have a house out on the lake and it is in a secluded area, so I always take my gun with me. This would be a great way to have it concealed. I LOVE this flashbang holster! So if I don’t win it….I guess I will buying it.

My wife and I don’t carry concealed yet, but we will. We intend to do so to be able to protect our family (4 1/2 kids) whenever we need to. I see it as no different than insisting they wear seatbelts, or use crosswalks.

  • Stacy B says: December 22, 2011 at 8:48 am

I carry because I care about protecting myself, my family, and all other innocent people.

  • Susan says: December 22, 2011 at 8:41 am

Over 50 and have recently taken a class for women and firearm safety. When I get my permit to carry (soon), I will carry because it is my right as a law abiding citizen. I will carry because of people like Jared Lee Laughner who gunned down innocent people in Arizona. We need to carry to outnumber the bad guys carrying.

  • Will H says: December 22, 2011 at 8:00 am

I carry so I can protect my family. I believe that it is my duty to be as dangerous as possible to bad guys. I will never be able to understand men who won’t take that responsibility but would rather hire others (the police) to assume the risks. My wife has recently started carrying sometimes. I think with the Flashbang, she may be willing to carry all the time.

  • Lynn Clark says: December 22, 2011 at 7:31 am

I am actually awaiting my permit to go thru. I will be carrying to protect my self and my family should the need arise.

Ive actually been checking this holster out for a few months…trying to decided if it was something that would work for me.

  • Katie says: December 22, 2011 at 6:53 am

I carry because I work in an area that had a severe drug problem that often leads to stealing, jumping and other potentially dangerous situations. I carry at home because my boyfriend works night shift, which leaves me out and about running errands in the evenings by myself and I will not be a victim!

  • Adam Verret says: December 22, 2011 at 6:18 am

I always carry. It is a responsibility that I do not take lightly. The rational decision to take a life, in the saving of another one, is one to be thought through deliberately. It will change your life. Know the law. Follow the law. Then make your decision before the situation arises. In this way you can survive the encounter. (And as always, practice, practice, practice.)

  • Mia says: December 22, 2011 at 6:08 am

I carry concealed because I’m a police officer. I have vowed to protect. I have the training to protect should the need arise. It would be inexcusable to have the training that I do and not be able to respond to a deadly force situation because I wasn’t carrying concealed.

  • Diana D says: December 21, 2011 at 9:02 pm

I carry concealed to protect myself should the need arise. Have always carried in my purse but don’t always have my purse with me. Love this holster!

  • Jeff T says: December 21, 2011 at 6:57 pm

I carry concealed to even the odds. It’s like the ace in my sleeve. There’s no such thing as cheating when it comes to life and death, and most likely criminals aren’t doing things legally anyway.

  • Trisha lowry says: December 21, 2011 at 6:36 pm

I carry for self protection while out on my motorcycle. As an Nra instructor I am really looking forward to sharing this in our Ladies Program!

  • Andi Schwartz says: December 21, 2011 at 4:02 pm

I”ve really been wanting this holster and am happy to see that the word is spreading about it! I wonder what Stacey does as well, what about us smaller chested women? I’d love to have boobs like the ladies in the pictures, but I don’t! 🙂

    • Kim Bortz says: December 21, 2011 at 11:35 pm

      Hi Andi!

Women with smaller cup sizes have been able to use the Flashbang – however there are instances where it doesn’t work or adjustments need to be made by trying out the three different straps and bras. I recommend women less than a C-cup use the Flashbang with a smaller gun such as the S&W bodygaurd or the LCP. I’m a C-cup and it took me a while to get the configuration just right with my revolver (LCR).

There are reviews out there by women less than a C-Cup – Shelley Rae is one of them and this is what she had to say “Women with smaller cup sizes (like me) have to be a little more wary of the loop in the center. The holster itself fits fine even in my tightest shirts, but the loop in the center will stick out a bit and sometimes needs to be carefully positioned so it’s not showing. No one I’ve spoken to with a C-cup or larger has had this issue and it’s no deal-breaker for me, it just means I have to pay a little more attention. I’ve found that low-cut shirts with a round neckline eliminate this problem entirely, since they sit up and off the center of the bra.”

I can’t carry concealed at this time I live in IL . BUT IF THE TIME EVERY COMES I WANT TO BE ABLE TO PROTECT ME AND MINE

  • Yvonne says: December 20, 2011 at 7:44 am

I carry concealed to protect me and my family. I like the sense of security I have when I have my Glock with me.

  • shannon g. says: December 20, 2011 at 7:33 am

I carry concealed because I am a woman living alone. I don’t think anything would every happen, but I want to be prepared in case it does. I think it’s important for everyone to know how to work a firearm. You just never know.

  • Amber Young says: December 18, 2011 at 7:32 pm

Being an avid hunter, I feel the need to carry a concealed weapon for safety. You never know what kind of wild animals you will run into while alone in the woods. I always have a pistol with me!

  • Amber Young says: December 18, 2011 at 7:24 pm

Being an avid hunter, I feel the need to carry a concealed weapon for safety. You never know what kind of wild animals may jump out at you while you are alone in the woods. I always have my pistol, its my favorite gun of all!

I carry concealed for my own safety, and also because I love guns…I agree with Rachel H, its my right as an American!!!

  • Jordan Brown says: December 17, 2011 at 7:20 pm

I carry concealed because I want to be able to protect myself and know that I can take care of myself and my family in a desperate situation. I want to teach my son that we have gun rights and they are an important tool. I want to teach him that guns have a time and place in our life.

  • sara ahrens says: December 17, 2011 at 9:25 am

I carry concealed because only Law Enforcement Officers can carry concealed in the late state of Illinois:) Better be someone out there prepared to protect as LE agencies are laying off officers and crime is on the rise. Did I mention that I work in the 9th most dangerous city in the US…yes the US. It’s not a matter of if, just when.

  • kristin says: December 17, 2011 at 7:34 am

I carry concealed becaue its my right as a AMERICAN CITIZEN… AND I REFUSE TO let anyone harm me and my family. I carry a S&W .45 or a .38 .

  • Yvonne says: December 16, 2011 at 9:46 pm

I carry concealed because I don’t want to be the helpless victim. The way our society is now, you never know who is around or what their intentions are. I pray never to be a victim of a violent crime, but by having my gun close by and practicing on a regular basis – if I am unlucky one day – at least I have a fighting chance to survive. Rely on yourself first, because even though you may lend a hand to somebody in trouble, they might not be so kind as to return the favor.

  • Tracey Baird says: December 16, 2011 at 9:23 pm

I carry to protect myself and my family! This is an interesting holster. I’d have to practice with it at home rather than the range. Need to watch the video to see how it’s done.

  • Tracy S. says: December 16, 2011 at 8:24 pm

I carry because I want to be an equal in this society. I will not sit idly by and watch someone being hurt, and I will not be scared into submission because I am a woman. I have as much right as anyone else to protect myself, my family, and those in need. It’s time to show the world we have arrived, and we are gonna set things right.

  • Kenna Rogers says: December 16, 2011 at 7:07 pm

I carry concealed because I do not want to feel threatened without the power of standing up for myself! Too many crazy people out there! Love this holster and I’m ordering one for my daughter!!

  • Candyce Braker says: December 16, 2011 at 4:54 pm

I carry concealed because when I’m in a crowd of people and I look around, I usually can’t pick out anyone that I think will stand up and protect me and those that I love. Statistically only 1.5% of people are even capable of using enough force to stop someone in a dangerous and life threatening situation. Bad things can happen anywhere at anytime and I don’t want to be a sitting duck or easy target for some bad guy to come and make another number out of me. I choose to stand up and fight and more importantly because I want to protect those around me. If you don’t have protection, and she doesn’t have protection, and no one else around has protection either, then who does? IF NOT YOU THEN WHO?!?!? It’s comforting to know that I can even the score if it comes down it… though I pray I will NEVER have to.

  • Michelle Bodenheimer says: December 16, 2011 at 4:44 pm

I carry concealed because I can! It is my responsibility as a wife and mother to protect my family and our well being. Not only do I have concerns for our safety here in the city, but I have increased concerns over who, or what, we may encounter out in the woods. After having a close call with a cougar a few years ago, I never venture into the outdoors without carrying a side arm.

  • Rebecca E says: December 16, 2011 at 3:58 pm

I carry concealed because I like to be responsible for myself. It is my right to take care of myself and my family. I like to always be prepared, and that is why I keep my gun with me at all times!

  • Lauren says: December 16, 2011 at 2:53 pm

Its my right as a citizen to carry, better not try and hurt me… Or my unhuman bodyguard will…. I feel naked when i dont carry… Its become a necessity just like my bra. “safety 1st”!

  • dinah says: December 16, 2011 at 2:27 pm

I carry because I want to be able to protect myself instead of always having to rely on others.

  • dinah says: December 16, 2011 at 2:25 pm

I carry because I want to be able to depend on myself for protection in case the need ever arises. God forbid, I hope it doesn’t, but I don’t want to be prepared.

  • Kelly says: December 16, 2011 at 2:23 pm

When I do carry concealed, I feel safer knowing that I can defend myself. It isn’t always feasible due to clothing (Flashbang would be handy for that) and because I live in PA right on the NY border and have to cross into NY frequently. Carrying on those days is NOT a good idea.

  • Laura H says: December 16, 2011 at 1:53 pm

I am a proud concealed weapon carrying woman! Very grateful I have the right!

  • ArmsVault says: December 16, 2011 at 1:49 pm

  • Michelle S. says: December 16, 2011 at 1:44 pm

I carry because the police cannot be everywhere and are essentially the clean up crew. No one will protect me but ME! It is also my right as an American citizen to carry a gun!

  • Kelsie adams says: December 16, 2011 at 1:40 pm

I am a stay at home mother of 2. At 5ft4 105 lbs I couldn’t exactly fight off an attacker. My .38 gives me peace of mind that i can protect my children and myself if ever need be.

Everyone should exercise their second amendment ! I would rather be safe than sorry!

  • Miss Laura says: December 16, 2011 at 1:30 pm

I carry a concealed pistol because in my office, I deal with a lot of people who come in off the streets looking for handouts and some of them have gotten crazy in the past when you can’t give them as much help as they think they’re entitled to. Ya just never know when one of them will cross the line.

  • Jenny says: December 16, 2011 at 1:19 pm

I am a real estate agent and am in and out of empty houses all day with strangers that I have never met. I feel much safer knowing that I can protect myself if something bad were to happen. I have a great guy in my life who has helped me realize the importance of CCW and he just happens to be an awesome CCW instructor!!!

  • Shelley A says: December 16, 2011 at 1:11 pm

  • Kristina C says: December 16, 2011 at 12:54 pm

I carry concealed because I’m a single mom and I have to protect my daughter. Nobody else is going to do it for us. My dad, mom, and brother also carry concealed. We’re all fans of the 2nd Amendment!

  • Anne Koontz says: December 16, 2011 at 12:38 pm

I carry concealed because you just never know what’s around the corner. I don’t want to be wishing for the gun in my house when I’m out and about.

  • Larry H says: December 16, 2011 at 12:32 pm

My only question is how do you get to it, if you need it?

    • Barbara Baird says: December 16, 2011 at 1:56 pm

Larry, if you go to the Flashbang website, you’ll see a video there of how you lift and pull. It’s similar to lifting a tee shirt up except in front, instead of to the side.

  • Kim Teske says: December 16, 2011 at 12:29 pm

I carry when I can to protect myself and my toddler. I would love a product that allowed me to carry on a more regular basis. My husband is active duty military, when he is gone carrying becomes even more important, and we are often in places around military posts that are higher in crime rate.

  • Becky Jean says: December 16, 2011 at 11:46 am

I carry concealed because my dad and boyfriend constantly worry about me and it brings all of us a peace of mind. It beats carrying around that ”saftey whistle” everyone is making a big deal out of! Not to mention, the more it is concealed – the less likely any threat will be to think you’re reaching for protection! Great Idea!

  • Cheryl C. says: December 16, 2011 at 11:30 am

I like to carry a concealed weapon because, at five foot nothing, it gives me an advantage to protect myself from not only four legged critters, but also the two-legged variety up in the mountains when horseback riding. I would love to win this holster! Thank you for having this contest…

  • Bobbie Jo says: December 16, 2011 at 11:26 am

  • Allison Kellner says: December 16, 2011 at 11:23 am

I carry concealed becuase I was raped as a teenager. That experience of being unable to defend myself has given me the push to carry whenever possible.

I hear you Gretchen! You should become a police officer, then you can carry concealed! I think Tracy S. is right…as our economic condition worsens and police agencies continue to lay off, Illinois will be forced to arm their citizens.

When I first got my gun, the guy who helped me decide what I wanted.~ Told me to put it on, keep it on, get used to it and if you need to dress around it.. Make it a habit.
Well~ he is right~ But … I have to say that I left it in my purse or car most of the summer because there wasn’t any place to carry it when you are wearing lighter cloths. Not anyplace that wouldn’t make the rest of the world uncomfortable~ and cause me to have to answer numerous unnecessary questions. ~ But I wonder if I have enough… “endowment” to wear this comfortably and discreetly? ;p

  • Rachel H says: December 16, 2011 at 9:43 am

I carry concealed because it makes me feel safe and it gives me a sense of control in a world full of chaos. Also, it’s my right as an American citizen!
