How to Make DIY Thumbprint Heart Magnets

First, use the pencil to trace a light circle around a glass magnet on the white cardstock. Then, use your child’s thumbprint (or fingerprint for an older kid) and pat on an ink pad color of his choosing. Carefully press two prints to create a heart shape inside of the drawn circle. I labeled each child’s creations, so I’d know who made which heart.

Second, allow the hearts time to dry. I waited until after nap time (a few hours), then carefully cut out each circle. Next, use a small, old paintbrush to paint a little Mod Podge glue on the large, flat part of a glass magnet. The Mod Podge will dry clear.

Third, carefully place a stamped heart cutout on the glue. Label the back of the paper lightly (using a pencil) so that the writing doesn’t show through to the front of the magnet.

Last, allow the glue to dry fully. Trim the paper around the magnets, if necessary. Heat up a hot glue gun and stick a magnet to the back of each glass heart. These sweet DIY thumbprint heart magnets are ready for gifting!
