Several years ago we were gifted an Osprey Poco child carrier. This pack has many outdoor and indoor uses, everything from hiking to keeping a cranky toddler contained and happy while I vacuum or make dinner. This winter, our family has continued enjoying the outdoors together, and used this child carrier on many adventures.
Last month we were fortunate enough to experience a lovely blanket of snow in Missouri, which called off school for a week. After the blusterous conditions subsided, my family was ready to break cabin fever and get outside to explore. Our youngest member is not quite two, and the large snow drifts proved to be too much for for his short legs to navigate for long periods of time. So, we broke out the Osprey Poco Plus and went for family walks.
With our youngest secure, warm and happy in the Osprey Poco Plus, we took the whole crew for many walks over the course of the week. My bigger kids threw snowballs and searched for animal tracks in the snow. It was fun to try and identify the animal that left each set of tracks behind.
Our kiddo was happy in the pack. In fact, he often was able to enjoy being outside longer than his older siblings. The Osprey pack allowed us to go longer distances on our walks and spend more time outside in the winter weather. I was even able to work with our dogs during these outings. I had my hands free for leash and GPS collar training and treat dispensing, which was fabulous.

My son weighs almost 30 pounds, and after a while of carrying him and trekking through the snow, my collar bones started to ache. I found that if I shifted the hipbelt higher, and cinched it down at my waist, this was a much more comfortable wear for me.
This version of the Osprey Poco child carrier is a few years old. The most current version is called the Osprey Poco Premium. [MSRP $450.00.]
