Project ChildSafe makes it a core mission to see to the protection of children and firearms. Julie Golob’s Project ChildSafe story mirrors its initiative. The simple and necessary effort of all firearms owners to protect themselves and their loved ones is a timeless responsibility and Julie is a stalwart and recognizable advocate for the Project ChildSafe mission.
As a professional shooter and mother, Julie deeply understands how important it is personally and professionally to keep firearms safeguarded and out of unsupervised hands.
As many of us can reflect on, technology has come a long way and though we can be nostalgic with the past, there are some traditions that should remain in the past; old gun cabinets and locks are some easy targets for investment and upgrades. Safety doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. Julie adds that, “The interest in safe gun handling and the importance of learning firearm safety go hand in hand.” Hearteningly, Project ChildSafe still stands by its work on improving safety by providing free safety kits and gun locks to local law enforcement professionals. “Project Childsafe reports the distribution of free gun locks is up to 41 million,” Julie says, addressing the clear growth in the positive perception about guns and especially, women with guns.
Julie stresses that in addition to shaping a safe environment, having the conversation with children about guns and safety measures is easy and effective. -IBR
