Babbs in the Woods: Women hunting elk with BB guns? Really?

I set my Google Alerts to “women + hunting,” along with about a bizillion other keywords. This article, from gantdaily.com, really started the wheels a’turning. Are women really hunting elk with BB guns? Here’s what the writer, a member of the ANH sports staff, wrote in his or her hook, of all places: “With females increasingly becoming adventurous, women with BB guns are not an unusual scene anymore during elk hunting season in Reno, Nevada.”

Are they making direct to-the-head, hit-man-style shots, or what? I want to meet these women. According to the headline, “Women Hunters Pursuing Elk in Droves,” these huntresses are making real headway with their BB guns. See http://gantdaily.com/2010/03/06/women-hunters-pursuing-elk-in-droves/

What, Babbs, you can’t kill an elk with a BB gun? Sheesh. I thought we were friends.

This author needs to be invited to a Babes With Bullets camp, pronto. Or get some general education about guns and hunting.

She or he should also read Robert Ruark’s classic big game hunting book Use Enough Gun–I bet Ruark would have said that a BB gun does not constitute “enough gun” for elk.
